Quick Merchandising TIPS:

  • LOOK FOR fruit that is full, bright, firm, even in color and heavy for its size.  Avoid fruit that is soft, mushy, with blemishes or cracks.
  • DON'T chill tomatoes, as that will seriously affect flavor and appearance.  Also, keep containers off the floor and away from moisture.
  • KEEP AWAY from ethylene-producing items such as bananas, apples etc to avoid over-ripening, shrink.
  • DISPLAY them stem up to keep from bruising, and never put a green tomato atop a ripe/red one.   Don’t dump out boxes: hand stack or use Farmer’s Best display-ready box. When rotating stock, use FIFO (first in/first out) strategy.
  • CROSS-MERCHANDISE with avocados, onions, garlic and cilantro; use secondary displays near dressings etc as “reminders” of versatility.
Need other produce?  We also grow and/or ship other popular produce.  Please ask our sales team: Contact our Sales Office at 520-281-1411.
